I'm a hardened player of all games old and new. Xenogears is just about the most abysmal, slow, boring, glitchy, jaded, obvious mess of a game I've played in literally years. Coming off the back of Front Mission 3 I was hoping for a game where you play a game, and instead we got a typical bad JRPG with nothing new to bring to the table in 1998 let alone 2015 when I'm writing this awful review, deserving of such a game. The first 2 hours were predictable and the characters were the lower wrung of what we'd expect in an anime in 1998.
Overall fans of RPGs need to stop looking back on this as some sort of epic success and see the game for what it is: an average JRG in 1998 and something to forget about in 2015 when there are plenty of much better games that should be played instead.
Don't do it kids.
