A solid shooter that is suprisingly fun but much too short

I won't lie, I bought this game for the multiplayer. At the time I only had a Gamecube in the house, so when my friends came over and we needed our FPS fix, this game would deliver. The multiplayer is bare-bones and simple, and in that simplicity it triumphs. Easy to pick up and play, it is an absolute blast when you have 4 people together, although the low resolution makes split-screen more of an eyesore than it should be. Nonetheless, the over-the-top rag doll physics makes every kill deeply satisfying, which makes the rocket launcher extremely fun to use!
All of the weapons feel spot on, and they all feel like they pack a real punch, which is good!

Multiplayer: 4/5 (docked one point for no online play or deep customization, but it isn't a big deal in the scheme of things)

The single player is fun at first but as you go you begin to realize that you are doing the same thing over and over again. There is little-to-no variety, you are always planting dynamite, moving towards a checkpoint, or freeing a prisoner. Not cool. The visuals are also very drab and plain, sometimes it is even downright ugly. Good thing it doesn't play how it looks, eh?

Single Player: 2/5 (too repetitious, and the enemy AI is not too smart, either. They duck behind cover, but thats about the limit of their tactical ability. Real soldiers shouldn't run madly at you, they should ambush you, or coordinate attacks in intelligent ways.)

I would have recommended the game back then when it was released, but now, you are better off with Call of Duty 4. Similar feel, but with greater depth and customization.
