Killzone 2

Foreword

So here we are ladies 'n gentlemen, Killzone 2 has finally arrived at your local store and you probably can't wait to buy it, well since it came out 25th for me I already blasted myself trough the campaign and played some hours on the online, and hey what can I say? Well...

"The hype could not live up to the game" and that's the way it is. Killzone 2 does almost everything perfect!
Instead of going for something "innovative and new" it chooses to do the old things excellent instead of normal or good. And by the way the online has innovative elements carried out in a very very good way.

Campaign

The campaign is so intense and makes the game shine too, while other reviewers say that the story is forgettable, I think it's not. The missions and objectives might be too common like "go secure that stuff, blow up that door, bla bla yabbayabba bla". If you look at the back story (www.killlzone.com - see for the story) then you'll find the moral of the plot very interesting. Near the end even things will get personal and some players who've played Killzone 1 will find it (I guess) a good story. Anyways the campaign is very intense and straight forward, maybe there ain't  to much variety in enemies but the action is straight on and their AI is very good (especially at the higher levels of difficulty). There a decent variety of weapons though you'll mostly stay at the assault rifle because of it's pinpoint accuracy and balanced feel.

Graphics & Environments

The graphics and Environments are a blast. The graphics are just mind-blowing because of the insane amount of polygons, the 8 layers of lighting (prolly more), the subtile grainfilter and tons o' motion blur. The environments look terrific especially the backgrounds, it really gives you a sense of war and the feeling anything could happen. There also is a great variety in environments.

Multiplayer

The online is terrific, simply because of the deep reward system. You get stuff while you achieve a rank and also when you achieve ribbons in a fight and if you get x amount of ribbons you get a medal which gives you an ability extra or stuff like "more starting ammunition/grenades" or "more points when scoring a kill in body count"
The multiplayer maps are very well done, the strategic spots are very well stationed, where ever you start you won't have the feeling the other players have an advantage over you. The weapons are balanced however if you have trouble with the "heavy" or "weighty" aiming system you might need to spend some time to score kills like most of you did in Call Of Duty or Resistance 2.  The online is totally lag-free even while bashing into eachother with 32 people at one spot. Killzone 2 features a great clan support system which totally kicks ass if you want to play with friends.  The official www.killzone.com website features your statistics based on your official PSN which is updated frequently and that totally pwns. The only thing you'll have to manually upload are your campaign statistics.
And it even features match play back however It's less then I suspected but still a v-nice addition.

Conclusion

Killzone 2 did surpass the expectations from the hype for me.
The singleplayer is intense and entertaining with an interesting plot and some replayability. And the multiplayer is rocksolid and will entertain you for the coming months, or atleast it'll entertain me till the next year ;)
