I want to be very clear that this review only references the PS3 version of the game. While I haven't played the 360 version, I've read enough glowing reviews to imagine it for what it likely is: An amazing character action game free of the technical glitches that are pervasive in the PS3 version. For a game that relies on precise timing to dodge attacks and initiate the game's signature "Witch Time", I was stunned by how many framerate issues plague this version of the game. I don't care if anyone says "you can get used to it". I walked away from this game frustrated by the number of times I got hit/killed because of slowdown. Even after downloading the patch and installing the game to my hard drive, the load times, slowdown, and muddy graphics were unacceptably bad. If Sega didn't want to invest the time to properly port this game, they should have never released it and simply kept it a 360 exclusive. While I don't own a 360, I wouldn't have faulted a publisher for not spending the money to bring it to another system. However, it is unacceptable to release a product that is this poor into the marketplace. I have enough money that I can buy the occasional bad game without it putting a serious dent in my wallet. However, if I gave this game to the 15 year old version of myself that had to save up money to buy a game every month or two, I would imagine that he would have been furious. My only happiness derived from this game was the knowledge that Sega US has since laid off their employees. They truly all deserve to be fired for allowing fans to buy this abomination of a port. Looking past the bad port, this game looked amazing and I may break down and buy a 360 to play it properly. Sony needs to get their act together with the 3rd parties because this is embarrassing.
