Ever since Mass Effect 2 hit stores in January, we have been treated to a plethora of DLC. The latest iteration of that DLC is 'Lair of the Shadow Broker' containing a storyline involving old squad member and potential flame, Liara T'Soni' as she hunts for the mysterious 'Shadow Broker'; a powerful information dealer who has been feared throughout the galaxy and to this day remained anonymous. Clocking in at around 2 hours, 'Lair of the Shadow Broker' is a prime example of what DLC is meant to be in the first place; a great entertainment to value ratio. You'll definitely have a great time with what this DLC has to offer.
As with past ME2 missions you receive an e-mail from the Illusive Man asking you to aid Liara in her personal vendetta. You soon learn that she attempts to rescue her friend from the Shadow Broker's clutches. Suffice to say anymore story synopsis would be spoilers, just know that you'll be in for an action packed 2 hours as you assist Liara, exchange some pretty awesome and intimate dialogue and take part in an awesome car chase sequence which reminds me a little bit like the chase sequence from Star Wars: Episode II. Not only that but when all is said and done if you have completed Mass Effect 2, this DLC kind of acts like an epilogue and you get a sense of closure as well as the mindset that your Shepard can has going into Mass Effect 3.
Obviously the gameplay is still the same with the minor edition of flashbangs which enemies will use effectively but the environments you'll be waging firefights in are quite spectacular from the industrial sector of Illium to a spaceship in the heart of a storm. Especially the latter which is simply amazing to stare at from a design point of view and artistically but not only that there are two incredible boss battles, some awesome dossiers that detail some very interesting back story and you'll get an incredible amount of resources to spend on upgrades.
Lair of the Shadow Broker has the works. Incredible story containing intimate dialogue and sort of acts as an epilogue if you have finished the game, great combat sequences and a couple of awesome moments, just exactly what the ideal DLC for an RPG more story and gameplay. To say anymore would be spoiling the experience, just take my word for it, if you love Mass Effect 2 and want that little bit more great content, then download it and have an awesome, action packed 2 hours.
