D4 Dark Dreams Don't Die Review

D4 is a good game that in my opinion, deserves more attention then it gets. Sadly, it hasn't made the sales to support the creation of future episodes of the game, so D4 is currently ending on a cliff hanger, most likely because D4 was over shadowed by Life is Strange, which is probably because Life is Strange panders to the Tumblr crowd.

D4 follows David Young, who is searching for the person who killed his girlfriend Lil' Peggy, all he has to go by is her last words "Look for D" and he uses his time traveling bathroom powers to travel to different periods in time on his hunt for "D"

The gameplay reminds me of a mix of old school adventure games like Monkey Island and newer ones like The Wolf Among Us, it also has bits that remind me of the Professor Layton series (mainly the mini games)

The graphics and art style are what made me want to purchase the game, it's bright and colorful which is a breath of fresh air in this day and age of grey and black blandness, and the quick time events are the best quick time events I've seen in a modern game.

My only problems I have with the game is it's length, considering the lack of sales, the game only has one episode. (yes it's an episodic game) and also, the TV-esce intro and previously on parts are really interesting, but we should be allowed to skip them.

In short, D4 Dark Dreams Don't Die is a good game, it's not for everyone, but it's worth a try and it deserves as much and even more attention then Life is Strange.
