I’m all for strange concepts for puzzle games or any game for that matter. It doesn’t matter how crazy or different it is I’m willing to give it a shot; Aero Porter is such a puzzle game. Aero Porter is all about sorting luggage; a simple, apparently boring task that you’d never consider to make a game of. It seems like a dull job and more work than fun. Funny then that the game suffers from being too frantic, fast paced and chaotic for my liking.
Perhaps its just me and my lack of ability and skill but after several hours with the game I just hadn’t got to grips with the art handling luggage. Flights would leave half empty, some filled with all but their own bags and V.I.P’s luggage always went amiss. Slowly I crawled and gravelled my airports overall standing to a respectable level but even then chaos ensued the moment peak times hit; as flights left bag less and customers got angry and the power going out as I failed to guide a fuel delivery to the generator but instead sent it off to Hong Kong. Clearly attempting to attain perfection for every flight wasn’t working and a change of tactics required.
So my second approach to bag handling began; not to strive for 100% accuracy but rather to settle for 75% or above. Who cares if one or two people lost their bags, thats life, yet once more anarchy ensued. And so after two valid to attempts to become a luggage handler extraordinaire I submitted to defeat.
The game just never clicked like all great puzzle games do; the transition from learner to master just never came to fruition. Regardless of whether I aimed for accuracy or speed my skills just failed to develop beyond learner and after several hours I was left frustrated by the ordeal and no matter how much I was charmed by the game or how great I think its concept is I’m afraid Aero Porter just isn’t my cup of tea.
