Kraven Manor2014

2 out of 5 stars

Overview Kraven Manor is extremely short, and beatable in under one hour. The puzzles are easy, with the enemy evoking a good sense of fear, and there is a slight alternate ending that nets a few extra achievements. It’s horror in the atmospheric, psychological kind, but it’s not the “terror experience” that some people have claimed it to be. TL:DR At its current price ($5.99 as of this review), it’s worth the…

Doorways2013

2 out of 5 stars

Overview Well, where to begin? Doorways: Chapters 1 & 2 (now called Doorways: Prelude, apparently) is an exploration, puzzle solving horror game, that relies on darkness to confound you, while playing as a character who is after people in some alternate dimension. Unfortunately, it doesn’t do much well. It’s yet another horror title in what is seemingly becoming a bigger and bigger genre. Pros Graphics are decent…

The Witness2016

5 out of 5 stars

Overview The Witness is an interesting game. I never played Braid, nor do I know much about it, so I came to this without zero knowledge of Jonathan Blow’s previous work. Whether that works for or against someone, I don’t know, but what I’ll say is The Witness is definitely an adventure. To start, I suck at puzzles. I played Sigils of Elohim, had my fiancé help with me most of them. My brain just doesn’t work like…

Resident Evil 02002

4 out of 5 stars

Overview Resident Evil 0 is both good and bad in so many ways, and some of them aren’t even related to this HD remaster. I’m a Resident Evil junkie, and I have been since I got hooked on the PSX original back in 1996, after reading a review of it in Game Informer, one of those things called magazines that you had to buy at stores or wait for it to arrive by mail. Resident Evil 0 was the last “real” Resident Evil, a…

Just Cause 32015

3 out of 5 stars

Overview I’ve played about 45 hours of Just Cause 3. In that time, I’ve done 54% of the challenges, liberated all provinces, found all collectibles and beaten the game. It has had its ups and downs, but overall, the game works. Yes, it stutters. Yes, it’s beyond poorly optimized, but it’s still a fun, if overly repetitive, game. I played this on an i7-4790k with 8GB of RAM and a GTX 980 Ti. After about two hours,…

Firewatch2016

4 out of 5 stars

Overview Firewatch is a fairly short, story-driven adventure game by Campo Santo. Playing as Henry, you head to Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming, having taken a summer job as a lookout. Your job is to spot fires and report them, but of course, you wind up doing more, thanks to your ever present companion Delilah, your boss. As soon as you begin your day, you’re tasked with finding people setting off some…
