Grand theft auto 4 is a game made by Rockstar games and is one of the best in the GTA series. One of those games where you say the name and everyone says "oh yeah" due to the massive hype about it.
So, there is so much new to the game I struggle where to begin. I will NOT judge the game by how it looks, which is what a lot of people do.
So, The gameplay and basics have not changed from the previous GTA games. You still steal vehicles, do missions, kill people and the world is open to browse around in. However, in like in San Andreas there is not a lot of free roaming. There is an achievement for finishing the story in 30hours which doesn't let you have any fun, lack of planes, parachute and so many other things which made SA the best GTA (in my opinion). So, the world is open to explore, however there is not a lot do actually do. Not many random buildings to enter or anything, Helicopters only unlock until the second island and there is only 2 types of helicopters. Customizing is also lacked, as most clothes are the same thing over and over just in a new texture.
STORY and STORY MISSIONS:
The story is simple. I am going to say now, what you do at the start is what you do at the end. No, You do not arrive in America twice :P. The way story missions are set out feel to be used in every mission. The game now has a cover system, where tapping LB makes you hide behind nearly every object and the story missions take advatage of the new system, but too much. The fact that 99% of missions actually follow a principle of "Drive to here. Kill the people. Lose your wanted level. Mission Complete", and if you can manage about 90 missions taking about 30 hours of doing that then you should have no problem.
The game however in my opinion did not live up to the hype, however the online modes got this game the lost star back. You can play this game for so long. Online, 16 people can browse around in Liberty city, the world is totally open. You can race, have a death match or just do what ever you want. There are so many things to do the game should get a purchase just for the fun of online play. There is a lot to do, it is so great socializing with friends and playing in an open world.
Overall: If you have Xbox Live you should consider buying this game due to the fun online play as it is very fun. If you have followed the GTA series for years like me then you should get a purchace.
