I went into Medal of Honor with high hopes, doesn't help that right off the bat I find out the single player doesn't support the "Legacy" control scheme, which is always an annoyance when playing FPS' on consoles. Fortunately though once you get through some of the early levels Medal of Honor feels like it starts to show it true colors as a very solid military FPS.
- It's very odd, but the multiplayer feels like a COMPLETELY different game (which I don't like). You have a different HUD, with a different feel to the weapons, and in my case even was using a different control scheme since my own thumbstick settings were offered. But I never got to feel like I got to experience "Medal of Honor multiplayer", rather just an Afghanistan Battlefield map pack/mod is what it feels like.
- Don't let the first couple of hours of the single player ruin it for you, yeah they are a lot more scripted and a lot more linear than we'd all like, but toward the end of the game I really feel you get some much more interesting gameplay that just isn't prevalent in many shooters.
- Basically you end up moving through trenches in the desert where enemies will be hiding behind rocks at an elevated position. Doesn't sound that extravagant, but when you have the more realistic theme, and what feels like more realistic military scenarios it really starts to make Call of Duty look like a bad James Bond movie.
- Here's to hoping that Medal of Honor moves more toward realism with its sequel in a longer campaign, that has more unique gameplay sequences, I feel like this series "reboot" has more potential then this release is showing.
