A Warning: Before playing this game, prepare to hardly ever experience a game this great again. Ever.

Gears of War was hyped in every gaming magazine and on every gaming website known to man. And it was one of those rare games that did not simply live up to the hype. It far exceeded the hype. And for good reason. The previously unheard of Epic Games has created an epic game in every sense of the word. Gears is no masterpiece, it is a holy tome of gaming.

In the future, angels will sing of the legacy this game left. The name Gears of War shall never be forgotten. That's the easiest way to describe this game in two sentences. But a mere two sentences does this game an enormous injustice. Do not fret, though. I shall give not two sentences, but a heaping shitload of information. So without further delay, let me begin.

    GRAPHICS

The graphics in Gears are nearly flawless. The character models are extremely detailed and amazing. Character motion is quite fluid as well. The environments, too, are detailed and beautiful, and create an atmosphere suits the gameplay all too well. The only possible problem with the graphics are the environmental effects, most notably the water effects. Still, this is a minor issue and does not hinder the gameplay in any way whatsoever. Another thing worth noting is the amazing support for Standard Definition Televisions in this game. I am the proud owner of a fairly old SDTV, and just use a composite A/V connection to play 360 games. This game not only supports the 4:3 aspect ratio, but it looks almost as good on an SDTV as it does in high definition.
