The "Simulator" brand (and font) have been for years associated with not so great quality products, aside from maybe the Flight Simulator. Euro Truck Simulator 2 is much better than it has any business being. First of all, it delivers what it promises: the game simulates you driving trucks and delivering cargo across Europe. Secondly, the execution goes beyond the required minimum. There are many things to consider, like the sleep requirement, the time deadline and the potential damage you can do to your truck. This game is also secretly a company simulator. You get to start a company with multiple drivers, take out a loan to buy trucks and deliver cargo. The business side is a bit exaggerated and too easy. A single delivery seems to bring so much money that the loans are paid off fairly quickly and any costs associated with the maintenance of your truck are a non-issue. Nonetheless, running the company is a fun bit of extra content the developers did not need to add but did anyway. Thirdly, the graphics for this game look quite good. The trucks are nice and shiny and driving through a German forest feels authentic enough. Finally, there is a good amount of customization. In addition to the in-game customization options, there is a dedicated modding community (of which I am a part I suppose) and you can listen to real radio stations while you are driving or to your own mp3s. The game could have gone deeper than it did, but it is still a great game for what it is - a fairly relaxing truck cruising game.
