In short. Beyblade on the PS1 has poor controls, to the point where you sometimes see your Beyblade go out of control and fly out of the stadium the moment you launch it in. The Beyblades themselves are customiseable, but the customisability is limited to several different parts.
The gameplay options are quite limited too, as you're restricted to one type of BeyStadium, and often Tournaments don't change much. Even though it does contain many of the characters from the Beyblade series, it doesn't have much storyline to it.
