Dragon Quest IV DS is a remake of the original NES game by chunsoft and Enix, The remake being developed by Atre Piazza
you take the part of the hero and a hapless band of chosen to defeat a dark evil. (Omega cliché go!!!)

Graphics
Easily and quite possibly the only reason to play this game the graphical upgrade is amazing sprites are sharp and clear and the backgrounds
are great 3d, sprite animation in battle is choice though the fact you cannot see your own characters is regrettable
(though that's a series staple) Graphical representations of weapons, items and armor in menus is great as well.

Sound
Sadly nothing caught my ears except for the beginning intro sound the music throughout is bland and consistently reused as
well attack sounds are bland and oddly enough silly reuse of NES sound is used such as running into things makes a bump
sound and going up stairs, into a room, village, cave all preform the stair sound which gets annoying.

Game play
All the original game play is here though one would think that in a remake they would update such things suffice to say its a
very easy game on the level of FF mystic quest easy, old talking OLD menu systems are still present making so you only have
a certain amount of items available per each characters and then a global bag of items unusable inside battle and oddly enough
enough all weapons and armor except here and there can be used by most any character, as well a good option they took out
completely from the American release a party talk system which could have alleviated some of the problems of figuring outwhere the hell your supposed to go next and what to do as well as flesh out story elements of the game, which brings me to the point that its hard to find out where you supposed to go next or do in this game.

Control
You're regular rpg fair though since its a 3d map the L and R button rotate the map though very slowly for my taste.

Overall
It has quite a few problems either it be with the ancient game play they could have fixed, the spotty very very very SPOTTY
translation and useless old English and boon docks speak that make most characters impossible to understand, the cliched
story and enemies...your basically being asked by square enix to pay 40 dollars for a half assed remake/port.
