Everything Old is New Again

I've been following Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection for awhile now, biding my time until it finally came out for the 360.  It had gotten surprisingly good reviews for other platforms, so I was hopeful.  Now that it's finally out, and I've gotten my hot little hands onto (for the modest price of $30 on Amazon), I can only say... Wow!

I have to admit that I thought I'd just play this game for a night and then be like "that was neat" and then move on.  But, it has me hooked.   The weird thing is that this feels like something fresh and original (probably because I haven't played pinball for 15 years or so!).  It is just an awesome change of pace from shooters, racing games, fighting games... etc.  It really feels like man vs. machine and when you get that crazy tunnel vision during a great game, there's not much more fun that can be had.  Going for high scores feel like an acomplishment, and completing the table goals are just as satisfying.

Even if you have an earlier version of this game, I seriously have to say that Medieval Madness and Arabian Nights (2 of the 3 new tables in the next-gen versions) are easily worth the cost.  I'm completely addicted to both of them... must... save... the princess... again in Arabian Nights after I finish this post!  The third new table, No Good Gofers is cool, but I'm still trying to figure out the best camera angle for it (speaking of which the camera on all of the other tables works great--it just takes a few tries to find the camera that works best for you on each table).

All I can say is that for a budget title, this game packs in a ton of fun for a small price tag.
