From the creators of Ico comes Shadow Of The Colossus an action / adventure game that really lives up to the genre. To get the story started you are a boy traveling to a land far away with your dead love, you are told that if you defeat 16 collossus that she will regain her soul and live again. So the first thing you do is to go out and find these collossi which is really quite simple, you press circle and you will hold your sword up and allow light to show you which way to go. Then you go there, but what makes going there so fun is the landscape. This game is absolutely huge and amazing to look at. This is one of the competitors for best looking game on PS2 . You will travel accross miles of deserts, forests and huge open ended landscapes. These are so much fun to explore and the superd draw distances let you always feel like you are really on an adventure like no other. You will need to climb and travel through tunnels to get to the collossi and scale huge cliffs and mountains. Finding a collossi is one of the best sights in the game, they a huge. Some tall troll looking creatures look about 50ft tall where as some look 50ft long. Now you have to kill them, it will test your wit and every skill to able to beat them. All of the collossi have weak spots in different places, but you just need to be able to get to these places. You only have 2 weapons throughout the entire game and you will need both of these to kill all 16 collossus. These are your sword and bow. You wont get leveled up at all in the game which means you dont have to care about anything else than killing these collossus. Also you will not be killing anything else as these collossus are the only enemys in the game. When attacking a collossi you have to use your sword to stab there weak spots. This is made harder by the fact that they dont want you on them and will do anything to throw you off. Each of the 16 fights against the collossus are as epic and exiting as the next. As you will constantly have to be thinking on your feet and thinking about what to do next. There is a downside to this great game in the way that it is just too short. I finished it in about 6 - 7 hours and although the ending was amazing i felt that it was too short and that the other good points couldnt make up for it. The last good point is the sound in the game. The epic music suits the battles so well and makes each of the fights feel very intense. Overall i would recomend this game to anyone whether they liked the action / adventure genre or not, but it seems to be only worth a rental. If the game had been longer it would have ruined the story and whole simplicity of the game. So rent it, and enjoy a superb game for PS2 and complete it, leaving you will a unique feeling of acomplishment you will never forget.
