Pros
  • Amazing graphics, still beat out a lot of games today
  • Awesome weapons, enemies, and environments..Quite unique
  • Great online, requires team work or you'll get your ass kicked. Very nice maps, and plenty of them to play. Also plenty of fun and unique game modes
  • Good storyline. Not one of the best next-gen storylines, but good.

Cons
  • Like many other shooters, campaign could be longer.
  • Could use a better matchmaking system, on a lot of occasions you will find yourself and your teammates getting your ass kicked because the other team is of much higher skill level.

Presentation

Fantastic cut scenes, some of the best i've seen in a next-gen game. Menus are presented well.

5/5

Graphics

Still some of the best on any next-gen system, almost 2 years after release. Amazing cut scenes, great explosions, a very detailed environment, and superb character models (which can be chopped to bloody pieces)

5/5

Gameplay

Very fun and rewarding. Great level design, difficulty levels are very well balanced, co-op in campaign is fun to play, and the online multiplayer is an absolute blast.

5/5

Sound

Gun shootings sound great, environment noises are good, enemy voices and the COG voices are both great and fit perfectly. Explosions sound nice.

5/5

Online

Great wide variety of modes, good amount of maps and all are fun to play on. Weapons are well balanced. Graphics are still amazing. Will end up being much more fun than the single player after a few months of owning the game.

5/5

Lasting Appeal

Extended greatly by the online. I'm still playing the game regularely almost 2 years after release. Will keep me entertained until Gears 2.

5/5

Overall

Gears of War is a must-have 360 title, and is a defining game for the platform.
