Definitely the most bizarre of Rare's N64 outings, this is one of this games that goes down in legend and needs to be seen to be believed. Gamers who've played it love it, and those who haven't played it have at least heard it spoken about in reverence. It was one of the first games to really eschew younger gamers in favor of some seriously hard-boiled adult themes, including (but not limited to) death, nudity, sex, money, greed, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, spouse abuse, infidelity, war, violence, cruelty, dismemberment, and chocolate.
The Great Mighty Poo, the Tedi War, and the baby T-rex have become classic pieces of N64 nostalgia. Even the multiplayer was fun and original, as opposed to the overused "Shoot each other" mechanic most games gravitate towards. However, Conker's BFD loses a few points with me for two small nitpicky reasons:
1: There's absolutely NO plot whatsoever. It looks like they tried to cobble one together at the beginning, but that quickly gets abandoned halfway through. So the only reason to keep playing is just to see what wacky situations Conker will find himself in next. There's no story, no driving force, no narrative...just animals speaking in British accents with oddly clipped, stilted voices that sound as if none of the voice actors have ever actually heard the English language being spoken before.
2: I'm not fond of shooters, and the Saving Private Ryan parody with the teddy bears goes on for WAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too long.
