Satisfying But Still Lacking

Major League Baseball 2K11 shows some great changes from 2K10 but it still falls short from perfect. This is coming from a person who hasn't played baseball since age 10 but I still know the fundamentals. The fundamentals in this game are pretty spot on, I used the Xbox 360 controller to play this game as I thought the keyboard controls were a little complicated and lacking. Playing the season mode I allowed my team to be auto managed because of the amount of choices you can make to the team throughout the season. Advanced players will probably be very pleased with this control over a team and the auto manage lets Rookie players such as myself the same joy throughout the game as advanced. It takes awhile to get used to the way pitching works in the game using a controller as there are certain motions that you have to go through to give a good accurate pitch with a joystick.

As far as graphics go in this game I would rate them as a 6 out of 10 due to them being compared to other sports games shows that they lack. Fan animations in the game are particularly a decent feature in this game as they try to capture the atmosphere of an actual game and the reactions from fans when a foul ball/homerun is hit.

I rate this game as a 3 out of 5 for the following reasons:

Pros: Decent game play and smart AI. In depth control of players and season. Home run derby is a classic mode that I was happy to see in this game. Support for Xbox 360 controller is a great feature. Overall, a fun baseball game to play if you are in the mood for. Online play can be challenging and refreshing from playing computer AI.

Cons: Keyboard controls were not that great in my opinion but others may like them more. Graphics have not been updated on par with today's sports games. Not too much of an upgrade from 2K10.

I would suggest buying this game if you have the money or you could wait for a Steam sale and pick it up for a decent price. Online play is pretty fun with no apparent issues to me.
