Tiger 13 is a game i really wanted to hate, i'd bought the Tiger 12 courses, and now as per the usual with a sports update, EA in their wisdom say, "buy em again".
Well in a way... yes, nothing's changed, but now you can earn them!
A new coin system means that everything you do is all in aid of earning a course for free. yes DLC is a pain, and with 15 on disc courses, its initially difficult to take, but there slowly becomes a perverse joy in knowing that you now own a course that would cost you 420 ms points normally. Join a club house and you instantly add the chance of earning more and by default, access to a few more "in-house" tournaments, which again bump you along.
Every ball you strike in TW13 basically earns status points for your club, coinage to spend and XP to improve
The usual array of online and offline tourneys are there and now they've ironed out one or two issues, for instance, "don't have the course for this tourney?", simple, pick another and carry on... everything is smooth now.
Improvements are abound, the swing mechanic is fantastic, a bit like the improvement from FIFA 11 to 12, it takes a little while but once you get it, you are greatly rewarded. Presentation is decent if not a little poorer than last time but in general it improves the golf side big time which is the priority, online match ups are plentiful and due to the swing mechanic being a little fairer, there are not so many piss-takers on courses hitting the ball 450 yards or more.
If you are not sure, i'd say give in to temptation and give it a crack, you won't regret it, my fave thing is that inside 6 rounds on red tees (super short distances), you can unlock a dlc course for free, providing you have the coin to play initially, which isn't too difficult to earn, and that in itself will probably keep the game going long after you've conquered the career mode and beaten the Tiger Challenges...
As much as i hate to say it, EA have done it again... And i hate them for it....
