Many years ago Final Fantasy Tactics hit stores for the PS1. For me this game was the shift from simple games like Crash Bandicoot to more difficult, and more interesting games. FFT was a one of a kind game for its time. It was a grid based, turn based, strategy game. Now with Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lion (FFT:WOTL) this game has just gotten better.
Two new character classes are now part of the mix, Dark Knight and Onion Knight. The Dark Knight is a one man team who dishes out loads of damages, but for more powerful skills, he or she must sacrifice some health. The Onion Knight is an interesting character. The Onion Knight can not equip abilities, none, no skills for him, he also does not gain experience, but he can equip any armor, helmet, weapon, accessories, shields. Even if your Onion Knight is a man he can equip women only equipment.
This game also involves a few new characters in the story, new items and some new story missions. Ever so occasionally you will see a beautiful CG Cel-Shaded cut scenes. This look amazing and are worth watching just for the visuals, even though story-progression is the purpose. Also new multiplayer has been added. They have Melee and Rendezvous. Melee is when you and your friend have a normal fight to the death and Rendezvous is when you and your friend complete a certain mission together. In my opinion the latter is much better.
All in all I believe that FFT:WOTL is one of the best games ever to be released on PSP. The only flaw is that the sound is off slightly from the original FFT, but you might not notice that. This game, in my opinion is one of the best out there and you can easily get 80+ hours if you get all the special characters and unlock all the classes. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys Final Fantasy and a must buy for strategy game fans.
