I actually liked this more than I expected, which is to say I didn't completely hate it. I actually bought this game for my Dad, from the bargain bin, because he pretty much exclusively plays shooters and does appear to have any discernment as to quality. He let me borrow it, and I started the game up on easy because I didn't really want to spend that much time on it.
To the "unique feature" of terrain deformation. I actually like this. You solve some puzzles, create some cover, it looks cool. It was fun to make stuff go flying. You have to give the devs some credit that this worked at all, as there are tons of stuff that could have gone wrong by putting this in. Really this is the high point of the game.
To everything else. This is a game that looks like unreal engine, is 3rd person, but has no cover mechanic. The enemy design, battle design, and almost everything else looks like it wants to be Halo.
There are those land shark type things from Half Life 2 for no apparent reason.
There is a Cortana knock off for absolutely no reason, except to have a womans voice in your head.
The game as a reasonable premise but then does absolutely nothing with it.
Upgrades are just "downloaded" to you arbitrarily for no apparent reason. "Here soldier you've made is this far, now you can jump higher!"
You know the more I think about this game critically, the lower the score I want to give it. But really, it's not a terrible game. It's a mediocre shooter with a unique mechanic. If you like shooters, go for it. Get it out of the bargin bin, borrow it, or rent it.
