4 Ye olde light warriors

The origins of the gaming giant that is Final fantasy come to the nintendo DS, Trying to bring with it the impact and storytelling of the originals. In some respects it does very well, But in some others it falls short.

The game has a cute art style that draws in a crowd that SquarEnix has been shooting for as of late, Girls, Not going to lie its girls.
Ever since Final fantasy X the Final fantasy market has been shifted to market tword teenage girls more so than the up to that point male heavy audience. Not saying this a horrible thing its just a little disheartaning to see a series i've been playing since i was a wee little one turn into a festival of AWWWWs and OooOOOoos.
Aside from that, it feel like a final fantasy mixed with a digimon game, You can choose the attacks your characters do you just can't choose the target so sometimes you have a good method to prevent damage to your party by taking out certain monsters first, Not in this game buster brown.
You better just hope your characters gun for who you want rather than who they think is ewwy.  instead of changing classes you change crowns, That changes up the skills and stats of your characters so you can build a party that suiits your playstyles.
You start getting classes that aren't that great and slowly work your way into classes that are more Final fantasy fan fammiliar.

You also meet a cast of characters in the game that join the party at certain points in the game slightly reminding me of Final fantasy II There is even a character that resembles min-wu.
The little mouse (Pictured to the right) is Torte a sage, Happens to be my favorite of the sub characters, Normally i dislike it when they trow animals in it just for the cute factor but he himself is pretty awesome.
The gome consists mainly of traveling from town to town solving everyones problems from smelly garbadge to a necromancer trying to take a town, The quests seem like they would very a bit in gameplay but not really, its talk to people go to a dungeon kill something rinse repeat.
The music however is this games strong point, its very classic sounding, Brings my mind back to the days of sitting around playing the first few installments. I have to say when this game lowers in price pick it up but its not worth more than $30.
With all of the quests and artifacts to find you'd assume there would be more gameplay and variations but that is not to be found here, Expect a 6-9 hour journey into gaia.
And the artifacts have effects that range from able to see the whole map, to changing into animals.
For a series that has been hit or miss since the dawn of Final fantasy X its a decent game. If you can't deal with cute things and you don't like vivid colors this is not your game because it is full of that.
