Singleplayer vs. Multiplayer

SIngle Player
The story was exciting and addicting which led me to push myself to fight through each level to find out what happens next.  On the other hand, many of the levels were created to just throw mass numbers of enemies at you which to some is exciting and to others a nightmare.  My biggest problem with the single player experience is the only way get through a level is to run through the level to the next checkpoint running and gunning as much as you can, so gamers who enjoy the rainbow 6 series or G.R.A.W. or who just like to settle in to a good spot to fight never get anywhere because the enemies just continue to spawn and swarm you until you run out of ammo.

Multiplayer

  • Local

To me, local multiplayer is so much more enjoyable and manageable than playing over the internet with people you cannot see or may never have met face to face so I have a soft spot for local multiplayer.  For the most part MW does not disappoint, game customization is nice to have (whereas online is far more limited) and the nice vriety of maps allow 2 people to play and just have a quick pistol fight or 8 people playing long open ranged maps where there is little movement.  The only loss is the lack of weapon customization, you have to pick from a dozen or so set characters.

  • Online

If you have not yet played COD4 online you don't know about prestige mode.  I feel it is a great idea because you are giving opportunity to a person who has not yet played through all the prestige modes to feel the kick and beauty of the Barrett m82a1 sniper rifle.  The benefit is that people who play for 12 hours a day are not the only ones who have the best weapons but there is still a weapons hierarchy.  Only problem with online play is the lack of ability to customize each match so the variety of the matches are somewhat limited.

All and all this is a game I keep coming back to not so much for the single player experience but for entertainment at a party or the battles online.
