Epic Mickey is the long awaited Disney video game designed to bring Mickey into the 21st century as a video game hero. The game boasts a dark story and choices with consequence. These features are intended to break through the barrier keeping licensed games from being anything more than mediocre. But are these features enough to let Epic Mickey shine? I'm here to find out.
The game starts off as a basic platformer. You run and jump and beat up the baddies. Soon you start to encounter some wacky quacky power ups that let the game shine bright. These power ups are a great addition to the familiar platformer and make the game very enjoyable. Soon the game shows it's variety in the occasional 2d side scrolling throwback segments. These parts feel exactly like an old game. It's almost as if gaming hasn't evolved since the late 90s!
The graphics in this game are amazing and truly push the Wii to it's max. The scenes are beautifully rendered and show what the Wii can really do. It's hard to put this in words, so make sure to see the video review for yourself.
Sound is amazing, the soundtrack is stellar and every song was a joy to hear. The game is also full of secrets and very replayable.
Enough words, watch the video review and see for yourself!
