Pac-Man never interested me. While the yellow sampled piece of cheddar cheese eating yellow dots is a cultural icon, Galaga has always been the Namco classic I worshiped.
Still visually appealing to this day, Galaga is one of the few retro games that has never felt dated to me. Never playing it for pure nostalgia, Galaga is a still an intense piece of old-school gaming that never gets old. I cant pin it down, but Galaga seems so much more than a number crunch, its just as satisfying as mowing down enemies in modern shooters like Gears of War. Destroying spaceships is a super satisfying action, unlike most retro shooters.
I cant say much about this super simple game, but in my opinion, Galaga is definitely the greatest retro game ever.
