One Of The Best Games On The 360!

BioShock was one of the most anticipated games this last year for the Xbox 360, besides the launch of Halo 3. And it very, very much lives up to the hype. It is one of the best titles for the Xbox 360 to date, besides Oblivion and Gears of War. BioShock has a very atmospheric quality to it like no other game out there.

The graphics are very good, the envirnoments are immersive. But BioShock's true quality comes in its sound. Just walking down a corridor and hearing the moans and the footsteps of the Big Daddys is very frightening and just wondering if it might be around the next corner waiting for you.But it is not just a first-person shooter it is more than that.

The game has a kind of a RPG feeling like upgrading your weapons, swapping gene upgrades like your plasmids, using ADAM to buy upgrades like health increases and EVE upgrades. The game, a few times, has some bit of a horror quality; like when you first get the shotgun, the lights will go out in the room and you'll hear chattering and screaming and the next thing you know there are splicers that are attacking you from nearly every direction. And it does have a strong connection to the horror film "The Shining", for instance the sequence I was just talking about, you will hear music that is the music from "The Shining".

The game starts out with you on a mid-atlantic flight. Next thing you know is that the plane crashed and your kicking your way to the surface to find that your next to a lighthouse. You swim to the lighthouse and enter it to find a sub. You enter it and it takes down in the water to the underwater utopia city known as Rapture. But once you get there you immediately know that something has gone terribly wrong with the city of Rapture.

You first encounter the Splicers which are the main enemy that you will face throughout the game, other than the Big Daddys and the Little Sisters. This is one of the games flaws: enemy variety. Yes, there is different types of Splicers but all in all they all look the same and same kinds of attacks. Some may have lead pipes, some may have a machineguns, but there isn't much variety at all. There are also only two types of Big Daddys that I have noticed. One has a huge minigun type of weapon and throws proximity grenades; the other is the BIG Big Daddy, and it is the one from the teaser trailer that we saw a year ago. A huge drill on the right arm and it is bigger than the other one. This is the hardest enemy in the game. But then again, not much variety. It is hard to take down these behemoths, I think I killed at least 18 Big Daddys the entire game, they are hard.

The game centers around the two types of power sources of Rapture: ADAM and EVE. ADAM is only carried by the Little Sisters and they are protected by the Big Daddys, so you have to take out a Big Daddy to get the ADAM from the Little Sisters. But once you do take down a Big Daddy, you have a choice either HARVEST the Little Sisters to get all the ADAM and in the process killing them, or you can RESCUE them by releasing them from the horror there in and get very little ADAM.You can then use ADAM to upgrade yourself by giving you more plasmids or upgrading your total health or upgrading your EVE supply. EVE is what supplys you the power of using your plasmids. EVE is noticed by being in a syringe you then insert into your body system and gives you the power to use your plasmids. There are many types of plasmids like using Electricity, Telekinesis, Ice, Fire, Swarm of Bees, and more. And they can be used to your advantage.

BioShock is a game that should not be missed by any Xbox 360 owner. It is worth playing.
