Polished, But Lacking

I was pretty excited to try this game out because I read a whole lot of good things on the internet about it.  After playing it, I must say however, that the game was lacking for me in a couple of key areas.

The controls work well enough, but it's extremely hard to really maneuver around any tight spaces.  Luckily, you never really have to so it's not a huge problem.

The story also just didn't do it for me. The cut scenes are really well done, but the story is delivered terribly when you're actually playing the game.  I never really felt like the game play was tied to the story at all.

In thinking about it, I think my complaints from the story arise from the blandness of the missions.  The only real "missions" you do are paint random houses certain colors or to get enough paint points to convert a certain "special" building back to what it was before the invasion.  They felt more like side-missions.  Also, it was weird that you could "beat" all the levels without completing the final challenge so to speak.

The last level, however, seemed to be by far the best of the whole game.  In it they finally started to make the challenges seem to have a purpose outside of just doing it for random kicks.  It is also the only boss fight which I would say was probably the most satisfying part of the whole game.  It was somewhat hard, but not hard enough to be frustrating.

Though I've picked at some parts of the game, all in all, it's a very polished game.  Everything looks really good and it's fun to play; however, these issues made the game much less enjoyable for me than it otherwise should have been.
