So this was a game which for me was full of surprises. Mainly because I actually enjoyed the game. Considering I had never played the original Super Smash Bros on the N64 and when I played Super Smash Bros Melee on the Gamecube I did not really like it. Probably because it just wasn't my kind of game and I kind of found the whole concept of Mario and pals fighting each other a bit odd. Nevertheless I recently decided to rent Brawl and see what all the fuss was about....
What I found was a game that is fun and easy to pick up play, with massive replay value. The whole collecting things in a game appeals to me from a longevity standpoint and I am pretty sure I won't rest until I have all the trophies, stickers, characters and stages that the game has to offer.
Needless to say I wen't out and bought a copy of the game and it is pretty much all I have played on my Wii ever since. I soon got over finding Mario pummelling Luigi strange and now love sending one of those plumbers into orbit with a well timed smash!! Every time I play this game I enjoy the experience, despite the fact that my first online win was snatched away from me just as I sent my opponent flying off screen with a final smash only to have the game disconnect from the server!!! I have had quite a few online matches since and despite the odd bit of lag now and again, and the fact that there are some seriously good players out there, win or lose it is a fun experience.
I don't think I really need to go on about game modes or how it plays as there are numerous reviews like that already, but I just wanted to say what I have gotten from playing this game and how as I said to begin with it has surprised me into being one of my favourite games on the Wii and one I am sure I willl be playing for a long time to come.
