The remake of Spelunky came out this year for the PC and it was the first time I played it. The way the systems and mechanics all connect, intermingle and play off each other is beautiful and often leads to hilarious/amazing outcomes.

Lucas Pope created and brought me into a depressing world that made me into a cold, unsympathetic, stamp machine. The physicality of the UI and keeping track of a dozen things at all times was really satisfying.
