Bloodborne

1. Bloodborne

Bloodborne is almost cheating, the way it just plays into my taste. Fast paced, almost twitchy gameplay with a gorgeous visual style and possibly the best realised Souls style map From has made. It's the beautiful halfstep between two of my favorite games (Dark Souls and Bayonetta) packaged in one of the tightest and least compromised games From has put out.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

2. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3 is amazing. It's one of the most well realised fantasy settings ever created, with excellent writing and entertaining combat. On top of that it's even brimming with an amount of strong content that puts other competitors to shame. One of the best games made in many years.

The Beginner's Guide

3. The Beginner's Guide

Short but sweet, It's a thinkpiece that put the way I view and talk about games in a very different light. Super interesting if the subject of the game is something you have an active interest in.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

4. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

As with any MGS game, there are many things that are great with it, and many things that are terrible. But in the grand scheme, I had a good damn time just playing this game. 80% of the gameplay is super engaging, open ended and just plain fun. Let's just never talk about the bosses or most of the story.

Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-

5. Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-

Technically a 2014 release, but only ended up playing it when the PC version came out. It looks great, it feels great and it's just fun as hell.
