I think the best fps shooter of teh modrn era. Say what you wil about Doom...well it just Doom. Meaning a bit silly, a bit 8th grade boy notebook art, and just 'a bit thin' when you sit down to study it. CoD 4 has something to say - it says it well. It's not deep, but it does a decent thriller storyline with interesting characters.
