10 games I'm looking forward to the most in 2018

by beachthunder

2017 report card:

Out of the 10 games I was looking forward to playing this year, only four actually got released. And out of those, I only played two of them. Outlast 2 and Tacoma came out, but I kind of lost interest in playing them.

Anyway, this is what I'm looking forward to next year (lots of interesting-looking, turn-based tactics games coming out in 2018):

Showing 1-10 of 10 items

Spelunky 2

1. Spelunky 2

Honestly, I have no idea what this game is. But if it's anything like the original, then sign me up!

UFO 50

2. UFO 50

More Derek Yu (among others). I'm looking forward to seeing what crazy things are included in this. Also, I really dig the off-brand NES aesthetic.

Scorn

3. Scorn

This game looks so good. Basically a Giger/Beksinski-inspired Zeno Clash?

Frozen Synapse 2

4. Frozen Synapse 2

Not entirely sure I'm on board with a lot of the 'open world' gameplay mechanics; it seems like there's a lot of feature creep going on. But I loved the original Frozen Synapse so much.

Xenonauts 2

5. Xenonauts 2

I ended up enjoying the first Xenonauts a lot more than I expected. And it seems like there's going to be a lot of improvements over the first one.

Phoenix Point

6. Phoenix Point

A Lovecraftian XCOM-style game from the creator of the original X-Com. Watching early footage of this game makes me pretty hyped.

Routine

7. Routine

Honestly, this is probably never actually coming out...but I want to believe!

Darksiders III

8. Darksiders III

I don't exactly have high hopes for this, but I gotta play it.

Wargroove

9. Wargroove

Sadly, I never got around to playing any of the Advance Wars games, but this seems to have that kind of vibe. If nothing else, the pixel art in this is top notch.

The Banner Saga 3

10. The Banner Saga 3

Yet another turn-based tactics game. I think I'm ready for some more Norse Oregon Trail.
