This gets in on sound effects alone. Nostalgia-fueled, perhaps? Yes, definitely, because nowadays I can't stand platformers with actual floating platforms.
There is a single gameplay concept here, and they run it to the ground in the first five minutes. But the novelty of being an alien using a giant screwdriver to unscrew the world while being chased by sentient gears never wears off.
This game wanted to be something, man. It just, ya know, happened to fail at all of those things it tried to do. Play it for the cliffhanger ending which suggests more is to come, when that is very much not the case.
You don't get puns like these anymore. "It's pretty alright... PRETTY COLD!" and people say Portal invited funny game writing.
What a charming package. Horribly, horribly awkward to play. But just, ya wanna give it a hug it's so unassuming and lovable.
Pretty sure I 100%ed this stupid game. One of the cutscenes involves the nerdy character fantasizing about being naked in a hot tub with the supermodel and goth girl characters. It made me feel funny and I didn't know why.
I dunno, this kind of is a pretty good game. There's some nice personality to it, it changes up the mechanics frequently, I feel like if it could've come out at a different time or maybe presented itself differently it would've been called an "underrated gem".
I don't know why, but this game consistently scared the fuck out of me as a kid. Probably because it was the first game I was introduced to enemies that can't be killed and must be avoided, which in itself is a frightening concept. Still, cool game.
Much like Haven, I appreciate Herdy Gerdy for going for an original world and trying out some mechanical stuff that not many games prior had done. Unlike Haven, Herdy Gerdy doesn't go far ENOUGH with them, and becomes pretty stale pretty quick.
God I played the everloving shit out of this game. You know what racing games need to bring back? Weird, obscure shortcuts and easter eggs to the tracks. This game was packed full of stuff you'd only find if you abandoned any idea of actually competing in the race and just explored the outlying details of the area.
