Fakey's Summer of Games 2014

by fakekisser

Another GB user (DevourerOfTime) put together a backlog list, and I liked the idea. Therefore, I decided to do something similar.

I keep a spread sheet of my "immediate" backlog. I say "immediate," because my real backlog is hundreds of games long. However, I try to keep my spread sheet under a hundred just to remind me what games I have high interest in so I keep them on my mind. I tried to keep this list to fifty games to make it more manageable and make it seem a little bit easier to tackle...

About nine games on the list are ones I'm in the middle of right now. I like to finish games before I move to the next ones, but I sometimes find myself juggling a few games for various reasons (some are episodic, some are just very, very long, and some just don't keep my attention enough to finish them in one stretch with a break).

I tried to put these games in the order I think I want to play them. Obviously, that could change, however. It may be fun to leave this list here permanently and create another list I continually update, just to see how much the new list changes. However, I'll have to think more on the best way to do that. :D

Watch Dogs

1. Watch Dogs

I was super hyped for this game. I wanted it to be "Next Gen" game, like so many others. It's not (like so many other have also said). I am having fun with it and will finish it. However, with none of the side stuff keeping my attention, I'll probably finish with it rather quickly after going through the main story and maybe some DLC.

Where Is My Heart?

2. Where Is My Heart?

This is supposedly a quick game that I'll probably play and complete this weekend. The trailer reminded me of Fez, so I had to get it. I expect it to be different from Fez, but since I like fun, imaginative puzzle games, I'm sure I'll be into this.

Transistor

3. Transistor

As soon as I finish Watch Dogs, I'm going to jump into Transistor. I just don't want to have to split my time between those two.

The Wolf Among Us

4. The Wolf Among Us

There's only one episode left. I've really enjoyed this game. I really hope they make a second season.

The Walking Dead: Season Two

5. The Walking Dead: Season Two

I honestly didn't start feeling extremely excited about this game until the last episode. It's been a bit of a slow burn, but it's really starting to build into something I'm very excited to continue. Just two episodes left.

Escape from Monkey Island

6. Escape from Monkey Island

I've been playing through these games with my wife. She really only plays the occasional puzzle game, adventure games with me, and Animal Crossing. :) So far, this game is not great. I'm determined to finish it, though, and complete the series with Tales of Monkey Island.

Murdered: Soul Suspect

7. Murdered: Soul Suspect

Despite the reviews, I'm still excited to play this. I didn't watch any footage of it, because I don't want anything to be spoiled. I hope I'm not disappointed. I just want something a little different from the other games I've been playing (especially from the other big budget games). I want something story heavy and a little slower paced - the same reason I was excited for Beyond: Two Souls (until I played it) and am excited for Quantum Break (please put it out on PC...).

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

8. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

I never played this before, since I had a Genesis instead of a Super Nintendo. I'm now playing it on Wii. I was really hooked until I got to the Dark World. Then, I got burned out. However, I will finish the game, and I hope I get hooked on it again before the end.

Jazzpunk

9. Jazzpunk

This was not on my radar at all until I heard about it on the Bombcast. I have to play it.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

10. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

I finished this game, but I want to play the "Freedom Cry" DLC. I'm excited to play that. I just want to hold off until I at least finish Watch Dogs.
