As always here is our rating scale:

I was gonna keep mahjong out of the list for this year, but I can't, sorry!
Things I guess I could add to the wiki. Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred or whatever it's called. Far Far West.

Infinite * Finished - Never Come to my booth and ask me about a perfect game!
3* Finished 1/19 I don't know how many versions of this game I've bought (but at least one playthrough goes back to the OG cybersleuth on PS4, so like 2017 or 2018?? wild) and in one case sold, and the instantly bought for very cheap on the same system digitally, and then finally committed to play through. Which I think tells a lot about how I feel about this game. This is a review of the main story, which overall I had a good time with. Digimon are great!!! Love those guys. But this hits the uncanny valley between a pokemon and a SMT when it comes to attachment. Apparently you can rename your mons, but I didn't notice it. So you aren't as attached to a team, and everything can become...everything I think? Or at least pretty close. Which I think I don't love. The story and characters are at least somewhat interesting. But I'd argue the world itself is the biggest draw. The world building and way you get to navigate around Tokyo solving ""crimes"" I think was the best part. Will I play Hacker's Memories? I might start it. But the RPG and collection mechanic of it all was a pain in the butt the first time, so do I want to do it again? This is arguably the reason I bounced off Arceus, so I'm not sure I'm fully committed to jumping back in, at least right now.
3* Finished 2/1 More akin to a point and click adventure than any sort of actually mystery or detective game. But overall we had a nice time although would've loved for it to come in a little shorter than the 20 hours we spent on it. I think the game bites off a little more than it can ultimately chew, but that's fine! It's nice to see a game having a vision and going for it!
3* Finished 2/3 When I saw the "discourse" around no voice acting I thought it sounded (lololol) a bit silly, but when you start this game it is noticeable. They break rules that feel ingrained with some cutscenes that feel like they have no choice but to be voiced, or at least have voice actor efforts or something, instead silence. I likes this better than the last Legends, but maybe that was me coming in with more clear expectations. I still think the Pokemon Go model of catch a bunch of Pokemon instead of bonding with the ones you do catch is largely a mistake, but I had a plan coming in and stuck to it to alleviate most of that problem. Overall had a good time, could've done with a less grand story, or just...less story, but it is what it is.
4* Finished 2/14 It's wild playing this after Pokemon ZA in that, this game has some text with no voice, but just by having some voice efforts, it just feels way more alive! Anyway, this game is nice and breezy. It hit at just the perfect length for me to not wear out it's welcome! I could've burnt out on it had I pushed for 100%, but I'm not sure where the self control came from, I just didn't. And that was the right call. DLC was pretty fun too!
3* Finished 2/28 While I didn't play this game when it came out (or if I did it was just the first couple of hours) the nostalgia hits hard. Not for the game as much as the action of sitting on the couch with a 3ds playing some games. Not turning on a console, not watching TV, just me and my little Nintendo handheld. The game is a lot of fun and is saved from some of its worst tendencies by being 20 hours or so long. Any longer and the frustrations that are there would've just kept building. The wild decision to have the first real match be a gimmick fight that puts you on the back foot while learning how to play is...a choice. But otherwise the game is a real good time. The characters are dumb and goofy. And the actual soccer of it all is really fun albeit a little simple once you understand the real time nature. Excited to move to IE2 which I hear is much better!
Lord of Hatred Campaign (why isn't that an option but the other campaign is...hmmm, maybe I should fix lol) 4* Finished 4/29 Honestly some really fun campaign work, and as always don't think about the story too much! The characters were fun in a vacuum (why were they in there!) Obviously it's end game time and we'll see if all the changes and adjustments make it fun without a more firm season theme, but so far what they've done feels really good! I've played more end-game since then, and it really holds up! They've made some smart fixes to the systems and it gives you a reason to do all the different end-game activities. Diablo is still the easy breezy ARPG, but it's a good time! Warlocks are sweet!
4* Finished 7/8 IO makes pretty good games! Y'all heard about Hitman? This game isn't that, but it is still real good! I totally get that people might've been hoping for me, and honestly same. But once I got on the wave length of this game, I really enjoyed my time! The biggest downside was the boss fights, because games even like this, need to make them a challenge. Which in this case means, real goofy! But on the upside, felt like a real and interesting Bond story! Was a big fan of how they pulled it all of. All in all, great time, and I'm excited for what they do next! That tutorial montage was real cool too.
5* Finished 7/11 I feel like people didn't give this game enough credit when it came out! Arguably my favorite character action game since Sekiro, and maybe my favorite FF game ever? I still like 4 a lot, so maybe. Do yourself a favor and give this a go! Just absurd amounts of content, and the combat has fantastic expression (deceptively simply at the beginning, but use that time to let FF nonsense roll over you)! Music kicks ass too!
DNF. Liked the tone and vibe. The gameplay was...pretty fun! But ultimately I was let down that it didn't have Neon White leaderboard chases. Or maybe I was just let down it wasn't Neon White. Which isn't fair, but it might be what happened.
