World didn't end, played some video games.

Honorable mention to Season 1 of The Walking Dead, which made me full on sob in the final moments. Fuck you, Telltale.

Hotline Miami

1. Hotline Miami

A friend of mine said it like this. "Hotline Miami is like puberty, but instead of reproduction, it is preparing your body for murder."

Twisted Metal

2. Twisted Metal

This is what finally pushed me to buy my PS3. I had been waiting for this. I was not let down. Played it online all the time, despite the network issues. One of the trophies is for getting a gold medal on every level. I have that. I played this game more than I should have. I adore TM.

Syndicate

3. Syndicate

I've learned that listening to Jeff doesn't often steer me in the wrong direction. This game was badass.

Max Payne 3

4. Max Payne 3

Site shows it as 2013, but I remember this being 2012, and other places show 2012 as well. Max Payne 3 was a harsh, unpleasant story, which is what you sign up for walking into a game in this series. The gunplay was ridiculously solid, and I found the multiplayer surprisingly entertaining. Props to Rockstar on making sure the PC port wasn't garbage, too. Ran great.

Hybrid

5. Hybrid

Of all the multiplayer only games to come and go, this is the one I wish had stayed.

Darksiders II

6. Darksiders II

I remember the day this came out, I put my copy in, started it up, and checked my friends, hoping they also picked it up, in some vain, weird idea that maybe everyone was going to get it and we'd all save THQ and get Darksiders 3. One guy was playing it, and the rest were just playing the first game again. Darksiders 2 was such a vast leap forward, and gave a unique identity to the series. Hopefully someday the planets align and we see how this series wraps up.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2

7. Tekken Tag Tournament 2

Armor King is the coolest motherfucker in the game.

Iron Brigade

8. Iron Brigade

I still call it Trenched.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown

9. XCOM: Enemy Unknown

I caught myself saying stuff like "If you miss this shot, everyone will die. Don't miss. Oh, you fucked up. We're all dead now." to my squad members.

Dishonored

10. Dishonored

Stabbing dudes feels so good, but not stabbing them feels even better. I don't know what to do anymore.
