I was never big on Warcraft (or Starcraft or Diablo while I'm at it) so I didn't understand the hype this got before the release, and next thing I know it's huge.
I include MW2 in this list, but actually, I didn't play MW1 either, or any of the Call of Duty games. I got bored of WW2 shooters after Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, and I never got into the modern war shooters. Kind of bothers me that some of the biggest releases on consoles now are first person shooters, just like it was on the PC ten years ago.
I never played any of the MGS games beyond MGS1 because I went from PS1 to Gamecube. Annoyingly, my PS2 owning flatmate had a PS2 but not MGS2 or 3, but MGS1 as well - because I totally would have loved to follow this series after the first one.
I played the first Halo in a shop once. I enjoyed the feel of it, but since I didn't have an Xbox, nor did I know anyone who did, so I didn't really play it properly and I especially haven't played the sequels. Back when Halo 2 came out, I was playing Half-Life 2, and everyone I know was playing GTA: San Andreas.
I had Red Alert 2, but never had nor played any of the other games in the C&C or RA series. Kind or irritated me that C&C was seen in the UK as being the only RTS out there that mattered. It is one of those game series that people who didn't really play many games seemed to really latch onto (see GTA, Halo, The Sims).
