Best of 2013

Here's my list for my top 10 games of 2013

Showing 1-10 of 10 items

BioShock Infinite

1. BioShock Infinite

The Last of Us

2. The Last of Us

Saints Row IV

3. Saints Row IV

Saints Row IV basically became a different game by adding in super powers. Much less, GTA and way more Crackdown, all of which I embraced full heartily. The real reason why I love Saints Row IV though is how it surprisingly pulls at my heartstrings with a lovable cast of characters that I should have absolutely no reason loving in the first place. It truly is the Fast and Furious of video games.

Pokémon X/Y

4. Pokémon X/Y

As a kid I grew up playing Pokemon on the playground. Pokemon was my jam for a couple of years. After Gold/Silver I fell off the pokemon bandwagon. I played Fire Red and Soul Silver out of nostalgia, but I truly never got into a Pokemon game since. So I don't really have a good reason so why I got so into Pokemon Y. Its not really that different mechanically or structurally, but for some reason I got addicted to Pokemon all over again. Maybe because its French. French Pokemon is pretty awesome.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

5. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

A Link Between Worlds earns points straight away for harking back to A link to the Past, one of my favorite games. Of course that alone doesn't get it on this list, it's also a fantastic Zelda game. The dungeons are creative and fun, and the game's open world nature is great and welcoming after the linearness of Skyward Sword. Its one of those games that I have a huge grin on my face the whole time I'm playing it.

DmC Devil May Cry

6. DmC Devil May Cry

Shadowrun Returns

7. Shadowrun Returns

Tomb Raider

8. Tomb Raider

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

9. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

What happens when you combined Platinum Games with Kojima? Pure insanity that's what! Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is not only a horribly gory fun action game, it also features that trademark insanity both companies are known for and its hard to tell which ones responsible for what. It also has some of the best bosses of the year. I mean what can top fighting america?

Rogue Legacy

10. Rogue Legacy

This is one I picked up late in the year, and boy am I glad I did. There's something super satisfying about getting a great run though the castle and slowly improving your characters. There's a real clear growth and progression in Rogue Legacy that you don't see in many games.
