Video games! They're pretty cool, so here's ten of them!

I like those games more than some other games.

Halo 3: ODST

1. Halo 3: ODST

Because shooting alien dudes in the face doesn't get any better.

Halo 3

2. Halo 3

(Well, shit. I expected this to go off my list with the release of ODST, but that game feels so different, it doesn't replace good 'ol, half-assed Halo 3.) Probably generally regarded in the nerdier of nerd circles as a dumb person's choice, but what can I do? I was born this way. It's a completely linear game that manages to be (for the most part) infinitely replayable and surprising every time. And that's awesome.

Psychonauts

3. Psychonauts

Because it's the most brilliantly designed game, in ways you wouldn't expect from its genre. It's a platformer with story and characters that aren't there just to fill space, and it develops them in ways no other game does. It's smart, and that's why I love it more than any other (mechanically better) platformer.

4. Alan Wake

Because it doesn't make me feel like a trained marksman, smartly foreshadows future events, loves Twin Peaks as much as I do, and uses music to great effect.

Shadow of the Colossus

5. Shadow of the Colossus

Because it makes me feel small.

Portal

6. Portal

Because it made thinking in weird ways feel perfectly natural.

BioShock

7. BioShock

Because it started with a laughably bad case of "video game logic"... and changed everything about the way I thought it started, and the way I think about video games.

Grand Theft Auto IV

8. Grand Theft Auto IV

Because its taxi rides are awe-inspiring. Liberty City feels like a real place.

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis

9. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis

Because it's adventure games at their best. The 3 path system is brilliant and adds replayability to the most linear of genres.

Afrika

10. Afrika

Because it makes photography feel just right. It might be ugly, low budget and from time to time a bit broken, but there's nothing else like it. Not that I'd say no to more Pokemon SNAPs.
