Jumping on the GOTY bandwagon: My favourite games of 2013

Initially, The Stanley Parable struck me as a game that I'd rather watch someone else play than play myself. But I played the demo since so many people said so many great things about it, and I was instantly in love. Both the demo and the full game are an absolute joy from beginning to end. And end. I haven't actually finished Rayman Legends yet. I'm not particularly close, either. But the Castle Rock level alone is enough for it to secure a high place on my list. My absolute favourite gaming moment of the year was the split second that I came to the realization of what was going on in that level. I played it 5 or 6 times in a row with a massive grin on my face each time, and every time I boot the game I'm tempted to just play Castle Rock over and over. To make a 3-4 minute level that brings so much joy over and over again, is true genius. The rest of the game is super cool too. Castle Rock is the best part of an amazing game.
