Game Of The Year 2015

by smallville123

Video games are back! Not that they ever left. Here is my GOTY list for 2015. Honorable mentions this year are Until Dawn, Her Story, DiRT Rally, Life Is Strange, and Windows 10.

Showing 1-10 of 10 items

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

1. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Snake???? SNAAAAAKEEEEEEE!!!!!!! Man, what a great way to end the series. Yes, there are flaws in with the game (such as minimal voice acting and cutscenes) but I feel like they really nailed the gameplay and kept me going back for more. The soundtrack was fantastic and had some great twists (that you totally see coming) What this game did that better than any game on this list was let me have fun with it (like having my horse poop in the middle of the road, setting down c4 and making enemy vehicles slip out of control over the horse poop and timing it with the c4 to make it explode and kill everyone) This is why MGSV is my GOTY 2015

Super Mario Maker

2. Super Mario Maker

It'sa ME! I should preface this by saying I do not own a Wii U. The rivalry between Patrick and Dan has been spectacular. I have spent so much time watching those two going back and forth that I'm willing to put a game I have had no hands on time with ranked at #2 on my list. While at the same time learning a lot about Mario mechanics and all of the different enemies the series has.

Rocket League

3. Rocket League

I've never been a big online multiplayer guy, but something about Rocket League really grabbed me by making sure all my friends downloaded it when it was free on PlayStation Plus. It is easily worth the 20 dollars the game was asking for.

Batman: Arkham Knight

4. Batman: Arkham Knight

I was really impressed with the visuals and gameplay (I really, really, really hated the Batmobile tank sequences). Sure, it's more of the same but I was ok with the trilogy ending. Heres hoping this paves the way for a Superman or Justice League game.

Contradiction: Spot The Liar!

5. Contradiction: Spot The Liar!

WELL, WELL, WELL. Watching the Giant Bomb East crew sinking their teeth into this game was a delight. I hope they do a sequel to this game!

Mortal Kombat X

6. Mortal Kombat X

GET OVER HERE!!!!! Mortal Kombats story was weaker than the last go around and some of the Kombat Kids weren't as compelling as their parents but I still had a blast with all the gory fatalities and some of the more gruesome brutalities.

Project CARS

7. Project CARS

This game looked and sounded amazing but a bit lacking with no soul with minimal cars and tracks.

8. Assassin's Creed Syndicate

OI GOVNA WHATS ALL THIS THEN??? After last years shit show that was Unity i'm glad they fixed all of last years issues. The combat does feel a bit clunky and I haven't finished the game yet. UPDATE: I finished the campaign and felt a tad underwhelmed with the modern day conclusion.

Broken Age

9. Broken Age

What a beautiful way to keep the Adventure Genre going. I have not finished this yet but I like the visuals and all the characters so far.

Rock Band 4

10. Rock Band 4

Rock Band 4 is a mess..... I wish I did not preorder the game. The promise of Rock Band 4 did not deliver my expectations of a developer like harmonix. No online multiplayer, no easy way to get your old songs back in, exports making you download individual's songs, not all the songs there from the start, a shitty on disc setlist, no keytar support and finally having to already wipe the leaderboards. All that being said this is still on my top 10 because of what this game can become if the fix all the features with flaws.
