Companion Rankings: Dragon Age Series

This is a compilation of my personal ranking of the companions that one can acquire throughout the four main installments of the Dragon Age series (DA:O, DA:O-A, DA2 & DA:I), the ranking of each of these characters is based entirely on my own personal tastes and may not reflect the opinions of many others.

1. Morrigan

Morrigan is, for a lot of fans, synonymous with the Dragon Age series as a whole. Whether it be Origins or it's DLC's, her role as "advisor kind of but also maybe an enemy?" in Inquisition, and her mysterious absence in the years in between, Morrigan exists around a lot of the same intrigue that the lore and wonder Dragon Age is known for. She's an incredibly well written character, one who has her own sense of agency and will go well out of her way to make her goals and feelings known to The Warden (and The Inquisitor). Companions that are hard to like, and that don't really like you at first, are some of the most interesting people in Bioware's catalogue (Bastila, HK-47, Wrex, etc.) and Morrigan takes the cake and runs with it in terms of skepticism to the player. You think Sten has the biggest problem with your leadership style? Think again. I think it's a combination of Morrigan's wit, stubbornness, motivation, and foolish confidence that makes her stand out as someone who really feels like they would exist in Thedas - even if The Warden wasn't there to stumble across her in the wilds.
