2014 has been a strange year for me, haven't played that many of this years big releases like Dragon Age 3, Destiny, AC: Unity, Bayonetta 2 and so on (though some of those probably wouldn't have made my list by the look of things).
Honourable mentions go to (in no particular order):
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Gods Will Be Watching, Divinity: Original Sin, Child of Light, Valiant Hearts: The Great War, Hack And Slash, Road Not Taken, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure, Mercenay Kings, Transistor, The Walking Dead: Season 2, The Wolf Among Us, Broken Age, Massive Chalice, FTL: Advanced Edition, Threes, The Long Dark, The Banner Saga

Doesn't reach the heights of the original, but it's still pretty damn good, and with the DLC it moved to the top of my list. This has dominated my gaming for the year, and I don't plan to stop anytime soon.
I did not like Diablo III at all. After slogging thruogh the last parts of the game I uninstalled it not thinking I'd ever pick it up again. So the expansion making #2 on my list is a testament to just how much was improved with the game. Many hours have been devoted to solo and co-op, now if i can just make it to the last Torment level.
This game shouldn't be good. It's a movie license, it's blatantly ripping off Assassins Creed, and the story is nothing to write home about. But the nemesis system is tons of fun, spotting THAT DAMN ORC who's killed you twice out of the corner of your eye will cause you to drop everything to go settle the score once and for all.
I loved To The Moon, this is much shorter and more a wordless visual novel, but the storytelling, the music, the dream logic, and the lonely boy and his found pet works it's way into your heart.
Pure surreal madness and a lot of fun. The game version of Hunter S. Thompsons drug induced visions from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Crack: The Game. Just... One... More... Match...
