It may have not been the most original experience, but for me it was the most fun I've had this year. With over 70 hours sank into the single player experience I got my money's worth out of it. Sure the multiplayer was a bit of a let down but I'm not much for online gaming.
I've never been into Tomb Raider. I've played the odd release here and there, but this refreshed reboot of the franchise hooked me. In my opinion a superior adventure game to the last installment of Uncharted.
Visually I loved this game. It was bright colourful and vibrant. The story I think isn't all that enjoyable once you know the details of how everything works and the combat had high points and lows. Still A solid return to form for the series.
Despite being catergorised as an expansion pack, Blood Dragon could have supported an entire game of it's own. This game hit's me right in the nostalgia and it was fun to pick up on many references to 80s and 90s sci-fi action.
Deadpool was nothing special, but it was a solid combat game. I would have liked to place it higher but I realise a huge amount of it's appeal was from being a fan of the character. Beside with so many dark and depressing games these days sometimes you got to make a little room for fun and laughter.
To be honest if someone had told me last year that a game based on totalitarian bureaucracy would have been one of the most gaming experiences of 2013 I would have dismissed you. Yet the idea is inspired and complex game which has a story that can branch out in many different directions depending on how you play the system and how well you do so.
As a late comer to this game I feel I've missed being caught up in the hype. While I'll admit this is a very solid game with an engrossing story, it just doesn't hook me like I thought it would. Still a better horror based game than most AAA attempts these days.
The original Luigi's Mansion on Gamecube was a favourite of mine and this game got me to buy a 3DS. Pretty much the same concept but with slight tweaks. Maybe lacks a bit of the original's charm.
Sometimes a good game comes from tried and tested material and God of War is proof of this. It's not revolutionary and isn't as epic as previous GOW games but sometimes familiarity is welcomed.
