Lets start of this list with the cutest marsupial there is, The Koala. This little fluffy animal is not nearly present enough in modern games. Could be, for example, used as a falling hazard that drops down on the player's head.
And speaking of falling. Lets talk about blocks, blocks that falls down. From the popular tetrominoes used in Tetris to... hmm... does there exist any other kind? Anyways, falling blocks is what made Tetris challenging and fun. Tetris would be nothing with out those falling blocks.
And Tetris brings me to Puzzles. Puzzles are fun, unless I don't get them. Then they are a just irritating pieces of shit. Puzzles are suppose to make me feel smart, not dumb. Thank god for GameFAQs.com.
One of my favorite kind of puzzle is the traditional Jigsaw puzzle. Sadly something you don't see enough of in modern FPS and third person brawlers.
But luckily modern modern FPS and third person brawlers do sometimes include puzzles in their Interactive Environments.
Environmental Puzzles that is. Enjoyable as long as the game's control scheme is simple and doesn't frustrating to position and rotate an object correctly.
But although, Environmental Puzzles often involve stacking blocks on each other, I have never seen one that involves Block Matching. All I know is that Block Matching was fun in Dr. Mario and I don't see a reason it shouldn't be included in the next Half life episode. I think we all could agree that Block Matching would be the next logical step after the seesaw puzzles. Or maybe I'm the only one that thinks that.
But one thing I think many of us would agree is the next step for Half life is to include Portals. I loved the puzzles in Portal and would like to see them added in Half life combined with the Combine enemies and clever AI.
And Portals reminds me of an older type of puzzle, Light Puzzles. Hated by many, but loved by me. I actually enjoy running around and rotating mirrors.
And what rhymes with light? Knight! The super soldiers of times gone by. Invincible as long at the enemy didn't have a Long bow ready.
