I'm working hard on my 2011 list, but a quick detour before I finish that off. I'm going to look at my top ten from last year, and write my thoughts about my thoughts from last year. I originally thought about re-ranking them, but decided against it. I'm just going to ramble on about each game. Some I have higher opinions of than I did last year (Mount and Blade: Warband), some I have lower opinions of (Heavy Rain). Either way, this should be fun.
Post list thoughts: This was definitely interesting. I'm glad that I did this. Also, I feel motivated to make a better GOTY list this year, if only so it will make a Best of 2011: A Year Later list easier. Also, feelings of games can go sour EASILY after one year.

The first thing I realize is that I should've wrote a lot more about each game. While I still think everyone should go out and play Heavy Rain, MAYBE putting it as my game of 2010 was a bit much. Then again, me and my siblings still have a ton of inside jokes from that game. We tried it with Move support, and that was a failure. Not saying it was bad, but we already played that game to death, motion controls weren't enough. (Should've really went for that DLC.)
Haven't touched a Pokemon game since I put this one down for good. I picked up White version, got to the intro and quit before picking my first Pokemon. I thought I was back into the Pokemania, but no. That makes all the time I spent on SoulSilver even MORE amazing. I should pick up my Pokewalker again though. I miss hanging out with my Haunter.
This was the apex of SSFIV for me. Arcade edition was purchased. But never touched. To think that I almost bought a damn arcade stick because of this is mindboggling. Tried getting back into it. But nothing will come close to the feelings I had for it last year.
Jeez, I really thought "V for Victory, Rocket Peace!" was the quote of the year? I was surprised to see that Peace Walker got a HD makeover. The only thing I did in it was load my PSP save (TRANSFARRING!) to play the last battle. Okay, you got me, I just wanted to listen to Koi no Yokushiryoku. Also, I put a LOT of time into that game last year. Loading my PSP save that had 170 hours made me feel dirty. 170 hours, that's about a week's worth of Rocket Peace.
I wish I played this more this year. I only put in about an hour of Civ 5 this year. I didn't play enough turn-based RPGs this year. I wish I had more to say about this game. But I don't.
This game had legs in 2011. This was the perfect game to play while talking to others on Skype. Last year, I was just thrilled with playing multiplayer against bots. This year, I actually made my mark on the countryside. Created a huge army, wiped out cities. Made friends, made some heated enemies. I put another hundred hours or so into this game this year. Loved having my army of 150 people fight off an army of 600 plus. Still never got married though...
Good news: I finally got around to buying Undead Nightmare. Bad news: I still haven't played Undead Nightmare. Nothing else to say on this one.
Playing The Last Specter made me appreciate this game a lot more. I took this game's ending for granted. Compared to the other 3 games, the ending was...wait, never mind. The ending was up to par. This game did have more great moments though, which I was sorely missing in the latest one. Once again: Slot. Machine. Gun.
Another game that had legs this year. I got my brother and sister hooked on this series, so we both played the hell out of this on the PS3 this year. A game made much better playing with someone else. Terror is Reality was a fun distraction too. Also, TK was made immortal through our constant impersonations (I've got me some HIPSTER BEEEEELTS!!) Sadly, because of the DR2 revival, Off the Record sits on the shelf gathering dust. By the time OTR came out, we were done.
I remember scrambling to fill out my top ten list this year (won't be a problem this year). I had 9 solid games, and I had to put SOMETHING as 10. New Vegas had a ton of DLC come out this year, but I didn't play it. I didn't feel compelled to buy it. I didn't even feel like finishing the rest of the core New Vegas stuff. I don't even remember much to like about this game, other than the story...maybe. This didn't age well at all.
