For a game with so much potential, Sonic Free Riders had nearly every good quality and quantity a Sonic fan would want in a game...but Sonic Team just had to make the game body controlled, didn’t they?
Let’s be honest: unless you like Shadow, this game is one of the worst in the franchise. The gameplay isn’t great, the story is shift-y, and all the characters are unrealistic. This game also proves that Shadow isn’t near one of the greatest video game characters either.
Of all of the runners in the Sonic franchise, Sonic Forces: Speed Battle is the worst of them. The game requires little-to-no strategy and is all based on luck. I’m not going to be as hard on this one as the others on this list, simply because it’s just a mobile game.
The game is good up until the middle stages, as Green Hill Zone and Marble Zone were the only two places in the game that kept it entertaining. Thankfully the next few main games in the series improved significantly, but the original is not even close to the best, and that says something about the Sonic franchise as a whole. The game had a strong soundtrack, I’ll admit.
