Terranigma

Terranigma

SNES 1996 Friend's favourite game and a pretty neat one, I'll say. One of only two SNES RPGs I've played. Too difficult to decide whether this is better or worse than Illusion of Gaia. They're both good.

Crackdown

Crackdown

X360 2007 One of the first 360 games I bought. Adored it. Just enough sense of chaos to make the game feel refreshing every time you played it.

Prince of Persia

Prince of Persia

X360 2008 Prince of Persia game but it looks beautiful. Could probably replay this game at some point.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

PS2 2003 The first of the PS2 trilogy, and the best. Tonally, it's perfect. The other two are still fun games, but suffer a little from specific characteristics that are less palatable.

Deus Ex

Deus Ex

PC 2000 Everyone remembers the first level; the immediate sense of openness. Just plops you in as says 'go for it'.

Myst

Myst

PC 1993 This game is certainly not good, but it was mesmerizing when I played it. You can get some pretty static environments from CDs, plus the games sense of loneliness I always found appealing. Puzzles sucked, and you better believe I used a walkthrough. A lot.

The Curse of Monkey Island

The Curse of Monkey Island

PC 1997 My favourite Monkey Island game and I'm pretty sure the only one to be cel-shaded, or if not cel-shaded than whatever the design is actually called. The only thing I don't like about the game is the busybody work of Insult Swordfighting: it basically requires you to fight a bunch of guys over and over just to learn the appropriate insult and response. Same with the first game.

Grim Fandango

Grim Fandango

PC 1998 What can I say: I have an unnatural love for this game. Time and place, maybe. I have even grown fond of how it controls. Other than that its ambitious, pretty, incredibly well-written and well-designed characters, and fun. The fact that a major developer took the plunge and made something as unique as this warms my heart. Bomb or not, this game will be remembered fondly.

Full Throttle

Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle

Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle

PC 1993 Colourful, funny, and inventive enough to stand out.
