These first two are damn near equal. I gave it to Guac 2 because I'm pretty sure like half the people who played Guac 1 didn't even notice when 2 came out.

Happily, the best-playing picross game available on phones also happens to have the best selection of pictures in any picross game ever (i.e. a bunch of old Konami sprites). I've never played Exciting Baseball or Wai Wai World or Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa or the vast majority of these weird-ass games, let alone developed nostalgia for them, but it's all so much better than the standard, boring pixel art of teapots and cats. It more than makes up for the conspicuous absence of Metal Gear, and for the seemingly never-ending supply of zodiac signs from Nemesis.

Paratopic's leisurely pace doesn't make for an ideal short game. It feels like it ends about 10 minutes before it should (even if you find the secret area). But what's there is worth seeing -- otherwise I wouldn't have been left wanting more. Award: Best Gibberish Radio Conversations of 2018
